WHAT IS A PROPERTY DAMAGE ADJUSTER AND WHAT DO THEY DO ON MY CAR ACCIDENT CASE?
What is a Property Damage Adjuster
If you have vehicle damage from your car accident, the insurance company will assign a property damage adjuster to handle your property claim. Some insurance companies only have one adjuster to handle the property and injury claim but most of them assign separately.
That said, if your vehicle is declared a Total Loss, some insurance companies will then assign a separate adjuster called a “Total Loss Adjuster” to finish the claim.
Here are a few different tasks Property Damage adjusters are assigned with:
Setting up an appointment for an appraiser to evaluate your damages and/or have you take photos of your damages to get a preliminary estimate.
Setting up an accident victim with a rental vehicle or agreeing to reimburse for one.
Communicating with the body shop executing your repairs to make sure any supplement charges are approved.
Reimbursing for any personal property that was damaged in the accident.
Pickup up your vehicle from the storage lot.
Pay you what your vehicle is worth if it’s totaled. This is usually a KBB or NADA type value. Keep in mind, if you owe money on the vehicle, the insurance will pay that first.
