In a car accident claim, typically you have two different insurance policies involved. The “3rd Party” refers to the at fault driver’s insurance company you are going up against where the “1st Party” refers to your insurance policy.
Some of the reasons why you may have a “1st Party” claim opened are:

✅You are using your Personal Injury Protection “PIP” coverage on your policy
