Should you move your vehicle after a car accident? | Car Accident Tips

This one is tricky! How so you ask? 🀨

Well, after a car accident happens, the position and placement of the vehicles can play a massive role in determining who is at fault for the accident.

Because of this, the last thing you want, is an at fault driver to move his or her vehicle to the side where they can then make up a different story of how the accident happened. You see this a lot with lane change accidents. If the vehicles never move after impact, you can tell who is in whose lane, but if they move the vehicles, either party can claim the other merged into their lane.

All that said, by law, if you can, you need to move your vehicle to a safe area and to an area that is not backing up traffic.

BUT, MAKE SURE YOU GET A PHOTO AND/OR VIDEO ASAP BEFORE DOING THAT.

By doing this, you will hopefully get the evidence you need and follow the law at the same time. Of course this is not always the easiest thing to do, especially if you are significantly hurt in an accident. It is also good to scan the area for any witnesses or potential cameras that may have captured the accident.
