Progressive lets a company owner avoid his own policy by excluding himself!?

In today’s video we discuss a case where our client was hit by a commercial company 18 wheeler truck driven by the owner of the company but somehow not insured…..

This was a first for us.

It is incredibly bizarre that Progressive(or any insurance company) can allow a company owner to exclude himself from his own company policy. Progressive claims they have a right to do this because some company owners only work “dispatch”. They claim in this case that the owner went to pick his vehicle up from the shop quick when the accident happened.

Not seen in this video was Progressive calling us back and confirming they will not accept coverage for this accident. This puts our client in a position where the only thing they can do is sue the company itself. However, the company is extremely small and there appears to be very little to no assets available to go after. Sadly, we had no other option but to drop this case. When this happens, the client owes us nothing. We told her when we signed her up we would give it a shot but would have to drop if there was no pathway forward. It is always important to be transparent with your clients even if it’s bad news!
